There have been many times over the course of my life that I have been awestruck! Many of them related to the beauty and wonder of God’s creation in nature. But the most recent was 7 years ago when my daughter let my wife and I into the delivery room to observe our granddaughter being born. What an amazing miracle of new life with so much potential! And now 7 years later, observing how much she has changed and developed. Still so full of potential!

SAY TO GOD: “HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME!”

In more recent years I have done some work as a certified life plan facilitator - typically with younger men. It is a two-day very Socratic curriculum (emphasizing thought-provoking questions). It is basically a faith-driven strategic planning process. God has prepared and helped me with the skill set to play this important role with another man. The results and decisions made have been truly remarkable. I could see God’s hand at work. Also very fulfilling to see how direction and opportunities have played out for these men.

SAY TO GOD: “MAY YOUR WILL BE DONE!”

I have had multiple very serious health-related issues: 2 heart attacks, cardiac arrest and near-death experience, 4 open-heart surgeries, diabetes, and a couple of minor strokes! In January of 2020 I entered the hospital for a second bypass surgery. Everything went wrong and I was in the hospital for about 8 weeks. During those weeks, I was desperately seeking God’s intervention and presence. After I finally recovered, looking back, I could see God’s hand was on me all along. I have a renewed sense of faith and gratitude!

SAY TO GOD: “GIVE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD!”

I have been blessed over the years to do a lot of international travel - much of it missions related. So I have witnessed some very rough and unfair situations: War-torn areas. Severe poverty. Great medical and healthcare needs. Hurricanes and other natural disasters. I have been so moved with the resilience and perseverance of people. Especially when they are Christ -followers. The sense of peace, forgiveness, hope and even joy is only something that can come from God.

SAY TO GOD: “DELIVER US FROM EVIL!”
