One of the most awe-inspiring moments for me was at the ultrasound appointments for both of my kids. I never could have predicted the overwhelming wave of emotion and joy I felt seeing each of their heartbeats for the first time. It’s months before you actually meet and hold them, so in that moment, standing in that small, too-hot room with my wife, I cried as I saw the first glimpse of our soon-to-arrive baby. It was an experience that far exceeded anything I had ever imagined.

SAY TO GOD: “HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME!”

I was part of a team in Mongolia with the mission of getting a Bible into every household. Our mismatched, inexperienced team of nine knew no Mongolian, and our teenage interpreters had limited English. We were sent to a remote, challenging location. Despite obstacles, God worked powerfully through our willingness. In a week, nine were baptized, hundreds received a Bible, around 30 started new lives in Christ, and a church was revived after a decade. We were amazed by how clearly God moved and how remarkably in His will we were. This was living!

SAY TO GOD: “MAY YOUR WILL BE DONE!”

A few years ago, I led 15 students through the Himalayas, bringing the gospel to remote areas. A surprise snowstorm hit, trapping us in a cold home with no way out. I was sick, the weather relentless, and we were stuck—our mission unfulfilled. Frustrated, I made coffee alone, and suddenly, God met me. A co-leader joined, and we read Psalms 27, 116, 24, and a Proverb. From hopelessness, we found deep joy and resolve in God’s nearness. Eventually, with His help, we made it out!

SAY TO GOD: “GIVE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD!”

My in-laws work with a ministry helping people break free from addiction. As I heard stories of devastation, I felt God’s heart for the issue. The damage addiction brings seems insurmountable, but I’m amazed how powerfully God heals lives. Through the recovery program, centered on Jesus, men and women are rescued. In eight months, nearly 20 men were baptized, found jobs, stayed sober, and healed relationships. Jesus transforms evil into life, healing, and restoration. I’ve even had the pleasure of meeting and worshipping with some of these men.

SAY TO GOD: “DELIVER US FROM EVIL!”
