My wife and I were told that if we were to conceive, our child might not make it through the pregnancy and that our children had a 50/50 chance of acquiring the genetic disorder that my wife has. My heart overflowed with joy when our eldest son was born. All I could do was cry with joy! That was 28 years ago. Today, when I go there in my mind I praise God. Because our son, thankfully, was born well. And my heart cries out, “Only God!”
SAY TO GOD: “HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME!”
I traveled to Africa to train church leaders for a second time. I had been there the year before, and it was really good. But the second time was amazing. I felt alive with purpose as God used gifts He gave me to teach, train, and mentor church leaders who were desperate to fulfill their God-given purpose in their own lives and churches. I felt God had truly called me to these African pastors. And I have since discovered there are more leaders like them all over the world. Lord, may your will be done!
SAY TO GOD: “MAY YOUR WILL BE DONE!”
My wife and I felt hopeless. We had just moved to Chicago after college. We couldn’t afford housing, so we stayed with my in-laws until we found jobs. The first week, our car died. My wife fell apart in tears. But God was there. We had to depend on Him. My mother-in-law called a family friend who sold cars. At the Ford dealership, he asked what credit we had. All we had was our Discover card. But with our on-time payments, we were approved for a car loan. We were so grateful to God for providing that car and our jobs.
SAY TO GOD: “GIVE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD!”
Jimmy called me and asked me to come over. His wife had been arrested for solicitation, and Jimmy was somewhat inebriated. He wanted me to sign a permission letter allowing me to take his baby Hannah home with me. I wasn’t quite sure what was going on. Jimmy placed Hannah in my hands, and said, “Take her home.” He explained that he needed to go into rehab. A church family agreed to care for Hannah. After a year of restoration and forgiveness and healing, God brought their family back together.
SAY TO GOD: “DELIVER US FROM EVIL!”
