We sold our home and moved 1,000 miles back to Canada where I’m from. After five years, we returned to Michigan. I took a job at a hospice organization before my family followed. While touring the area with my friend Brian, I said, “Just for fun, let’s drive by my old house!” Lo and behold, a “For Sale” sign had gone up just minutes before we drove by. Long story short, I bought my old house back and for a great price! I had prayed for a smooth transition, and my kids even got their same rooms and neighbors back! I remain in awe of God’s goodness!

SAY TO GOD: “HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME!”

Death pursued me from an early age. My mother died when I was an infant, then my grandmother, and then my adoptive mother—losing two mothers before I turned 30. Her death was difficult—little support or communication from the hospital. Years later, I learned about hospice and thought, “Where was this when we needed it?” Then, I heard my mother’s voice: “Go make sure this doesn’t happen to others.” Now, my pain fuels my life purpose. As a hospice social worker, I try to help others feel understood, seen, and validated—turning loss into something meaningful and even beautiful.

SAY TO GOD: “MAY YOUR WILL BE DONE!”

My wife faced multiple diseases at once, and her oxygen levels dropped to life-threatening levels. Given my history with loss, I was horrified at the thought of losing her too. Months later, she is recovering. God’s provision is more precious to me than food or practical sustenance. He spared the most important person in my life, my greatest support and love. I’m so grateful the Lord brought me through that dark time and blessed me with more days at Julie’s side and she at mine.

SAY TO GOD: “GIVE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD!”

My father abused a family member when she was young. Thirty years later, the abuse was exposed, and my father was sent to prison. I supported the victim but was unsure how to relate to him. My wife reminded me of God’s words in Micah 6:8, guiding me to hold him accountable while honoring him. Years later, living 1,000 miles away, I returned twice to care for him during medical crises. I received from the Lord the love, mercy, and patience needed. Despite deep pain, God is delivering me from my angry, vengeful heart.

SAY TO GOD: “DELIVER US FROM EVIL!”
